Body Care

WAYS WE TAKE CARE NATURALLY

One of the essential things to consider when thinking about funeral services is body care.

We like to allow the process to be as natural as possible using essential oils for bathing, ice for preservation and homemade skin cream for moisturizing, and the use of minimal makeup.

We say it isn’t necessary to hasten the funeral service because of natural care.

Instead, we say it’s best to see a person sooner rather than later and not after 6 days.

Therefore, we can take all the time you need to plan a funeral service as long as the viewing isn’t
required after this timeframe.

We are happy to do the care for you or assist you if you wish to do it yourselves at our funeral home, or in your own home.

We set the scene with candles and music and take our time to tell our stories. We have a kit ready to come to your home and create the same environment.

You will need to choose some clothing and decide if the jewellery will remain or be kept.

WE AVOID EMBALMING, THOUGH FOR SOME PEOPLE EMBALMING IS ESSENTIAL.

What is Embalming?

Embalming is the process of reversing the bacterial reactions that begin in the stomach and the blood when death occurs

  • Closing of the eyes and the mouth
  • Washing and cleansing a person’s body
  • Removing any excess fluids
  • Replacing the blood with a preservative

When is Embalming needed?

People more likely to require embalming may include those

  • With excess fluid and excess body weight
  • Prolonged cancer medication
  • A distended abdomen that is full of fluid or gas
  • Case by case basis
  • Or being transported overseas
